The Korean War began in 1950 when North Korean tanks crossed the 38th parallel at the South Korean border. Supporting South Korea against the Russian-backed North, the U.S. entered the conflict. To aid the military, Johnson & Johnson initiated a substantial contribution of surgical supplies for wounded soldiers. In addition to donating products, many company employees enlisted to bolster the American lines in Korea.
